How much does it cost to get citizenship in Montenegro?
You can choose from two real estate purchase structures in exchange for the Montenegro passports. Under both options, there is a compulsory contribution of €100,000 to the state.
Real estate option 1 of the Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program:
- Qualified (by the government) real estate developments in the northern part of Montenegro: €250,000.
Real estate option 2 of the Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program:
- Qualified (by the government) real estate developments in the southern part (including the capital, Podgorica): €450,000.
Why does the Montenegrin government suspend and close the citizenship by investment program?
It was a political decision of the new government. However, there is an exciting issue behind it. Montenegro is joining the European Union. And the MEPs do not like citizenship by investment programs. As the passport scheme ends, it allows to resolve some of the last negotiation chapters, and the date of accession is getting closer. Your Montenegrin travel document will become one of the official passports of the European Union.
The Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Program will close soon, but you still have time to apply. The beautiful Adriatic country accepts applications until 2022.
