Cyprus residency for British expats after Brexit

The situation of British citizens living in the EU is doubtful. Cyprus now decided to grant permanent residency rights for Briton expats, who have been living there for five years.
According to the guide published by the Interior Ministry , Cyprus will implement the withdrawal agreement regarding the British citizens' rights to continue residing in Cyprus.
The eligibility criteria for the Britons is that UK citizens and their family have been residents for five years by December 31 2020. Those UK nationals, who are residents of Cyprus or will arrive until the last day of 2020, can obtain the residence permit and can become permanent Cypriot resident after the qualifying five years. The concerned British citizens can continue their pre-Brexit life in Cyprus. They will be able to work and use public services, like now.
According to the document published by the Cypriot government, the British nationals and their family members' right to free movement will continue during the so-called "Transition period", until 31 December 2020. If the expat wants to reunite his/her family in Cyprus can do that until the end of the transition period.
However, those Britons, who wish to move to Cyprus after the end of the transition period must meet the Cyprus immigration rules for third-country nationals.
The proof of the resident status will be the usual and current resident documents:
- Certificate of Registration(MEU1)
- Residence card (MEU2)
- Certificate of Permanent Residence (MEU3)
- Card of Permanent Residence (MEU3)
