Entry visas and the Freedom of Travel One of the most common reasons to obtain a second citizenship or residence permit is to have the freedom of travel without always applying for entry visas. What is the Freedom of Travel? "Freedom of movement, mobility rights, or the right to travel is a human rights concept encompassing the right of individuals to travel from place to place within the territory of a country, and to leave the country and return to it." (Wikipedia ) Citizens of countries, where it is difficult to obtain entry or even transfer visas must face the bureaucratic process to be able to visit foreign countries. To get an entry visa, these travellers must sometimes prove their reason to travel with officially registered invitation letters. It means that someone or a company, an organisation must invite them and take responsibility for them during their stay in the jurisdiction. Of course, such rules make it almost impossible to plan a round-trip. That's why mostly wealthy people can manage this project and obtain all necessary visas from the developing countries. Entry visas are permits which allow the foreign citizen to enter in one or several countries. The most common types of entry visas are the tourist/visitor and business visas. Under tourist visas, it is generally not allowed for the foreigner to work in the country of destination. Meanwhile, the business visa allows the holder to work for a specific period. There are single and multiple entry visas. Of course, the cost of multiple entry visas, which allow the holder to enter multiple times in one or several jurisdictions are more expensive. Invitation letters Citizens of developing countries in several cases must have a registered invitation letter issued by an individual or a company, an organisation to be able to apply for the entry visa. These invitation letters must state that the inviting party takes responsibility for the invited person. Sometimes these letters must be registered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the destination country. What is the Schengen entry visa? A Schengen VISA is a single or multiple entry short stay permit allowing its holder to circulate in the European Schengen area. The Schengen area covers 26 European countries ("Schengen States") states without border controls between them.
