Hurry up and get your Maltese residency! The MRVP changes from the end of March!

The Malta Residence and Visa Programme (MRVP) changes entirely from the last days of March 2021, according to the Malta Residency Visa Agency's (MRVA) recent publication about the final version of its updated terms for the program, from now referred to as the Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP). However, you can still apply for only €130,000 until 29 March!

The new programm eliminates the EUR 250,000 bond-investment requirement, while the real-estate investment minimums have increased to EUR 300,000 in the South of Malta and on Gozo and EUR 350,000 in the rest of the country, to maintain them for at least five years. No changes were made to minimum rental prices.

The bond-investment will be replaced by a non-recoverable government contribution, for those who lease properties, the minimum contribution will amount to EUR 58,000, while those who choose to buy will need to contribute EUR 28,000.

All applicants will need to pay an administritive fee of EUR 40,000 of which EUR 10,000 is payable prior to approval-in-principle and also be subject to a mandatory EUR 2,000 contribution to a local registered philanthropic, cultural, sport, scientific or animal welfare organization.

The minimum amount of assets controlled by the Applicant should be valued at EUR 500,000, at least EUR 150,000 of which must be held in the form of securities.

Undoubtedly, the programm will be more expensive, until now the Maltese government only increased the cost of citizenship and residency by investment schemes costs.

Advantages of the Maltese MRVP (Malta Visa and Residence Program)

Holders of the Maltese residence permit are residents of the European Union as well. You and your family can live in Malta and stay in the other member states. The entire family may become permanent residents of Malta, including the parents and all dependent children, four generations may enjoy the benefits of living in Malta!

Most importantly, the Maltese permanent resident status leads to the most valuable Maltese citizenship after five years!
